Documentary Wedding Photography
As we specialize in documentary wedding photography, our approach is more of story telling. There is power in truth and we want our photography to represent truth. Colour is something that is important to us and you may notice that our pictures tend to have a “pop” about them whilst staying true to natural skin tones. Weddings are often a colourful affair and we try and us them.
Whether it is for weddings or engagement photos, we love being able to capture those moments. Photography allows us to be a part of something truly unique as no 2 couples are the same. We take great joy in producing life long imagery that captures the beauty of all of our couples. We take pride in capturing the smallest of details to ensure all aspects of a wedding day are covered.
Our goal is to consistently create compelling imagery full of honest moments mixed with stunning and elegant portraiture.
Storytellers
We love capturing moments. We want to go beyond taking the pictures you expect. Documentary wedding photography looks at adding the smallest details to the overall story.
“In photography, the smallest thing can be a great subject. The little, human detail can become a Leitmotiv.”
Henri Cartier-Bresson
It's All About You
No two couples are the same and they shouldn’t be treated as such. Each couple should have an unique experience. We want you to feel as though you are our only client, to feel as special throughout our time together as you would feel on the wedding day itself.
“It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter”
Alfred Eisenstaedt
Beauty & Elegance
Once the wedding is over, one of the only things that remain are your wedding photos. We want to give our clients amazing pieces of art that showcase their beauty and their love. Pieces of art they are proud to share with their family and friends for years to come.
“Beauty can be seen in all things, seeing and composing the beauty is what separates the snapshot from the photograph.”
Matt Hardy
“If the photographer is interested in the people in front of his lens, and if he is compassionate, it’s already a lot. The instrument is not the camera but the photographer.”
– Eve Arnola
When you think about your wedding day, what is your dream? Our hope is when the DJ stops playing, when the cake has finished and the flowers wither away, you will always remember what it felt like to be lost in moments so amazing and joyful and when you were so overwhelmed with loving emotion that time stood still. It’s these moments, and the people and details that make them come alive, you will treasure forever. As humans we don’t remember everything that we experience, but photographs serve as powerful reminders.
We love listening to romantic stories and usually during the consultation period we will ask about your love story. From how you met, your first date and how the proposal was arranged (love to hear about the “lie” the groom-to-be had to tell). We shoot to serve the couple we are with, to give them a fun and personal experience. We shoot for the family that loves the bride and groom and for the family that is yet to come.
The Wedding Process
1. We Get to Know Each Other
The first step is to either fill out the contact form or email us. A response will be with you within 48 hours. You will receive our full pricing list filled with details about our wedding collections and options. We will arrange a time for us to speak via zoom or on the phone. This will give us a chance to learn more about you, your love story and the vision for your wedding day. If we are a good fit (hopefully we are) and you want to go ahead and book us then we will send over our contract for you to sign and pay the deposit.
2. Engagement Session
Together we will work out a perfect date and location for your engagement shoot. Prior we would have gone over the theme and outfit choices. We recommend having your shoot 6-9 months before your wedding. So it gives you plenty of time if you want to use your pictures for save the date, invitations and/or if you want to use the pictures on your wedding website. We will spend up to 2 hours together. If this is your first time taking professional pictures together, don’t be nervous, it will be a very relaxed and fun session. We will give you tips on posing so no need to worry. This is will be a perfect opportunity for us to get to know each other more and for you to become comfortable in front of the camera.
3. A Friend Whenever You Need
In the months before the wedding, we’ll exchange emails and phone calls as we check in and see how wedding planning is going. Working with your planner (if you have one) we can discuss the wedding day timeline to best fit your vision. We will work together so that you won’t have to worry about anything on your special day. As the wedding day approaches we are here to help with anything you may need.
4. The Big Day Is Here
Its finally here!!! The only thing we ask of you on the day is to enjoy yourselves, soak in everything. Be the King and Queen that you are. We will show up and capture every moment. We’ll have your timeline and list of preferences with us on the day so you can rest assured every detail will be beautifully captured. Smile, dance, laugh, cry happy tears and we will work our magic!
5. Your Memories Live Forever
We love that feeling when we send you an email to let you know your photos are ready to be viewed in your private online gallery. The photos will be with you within 12 weeks of your wedding and in that time we will make sure one by one your photos have been perfected.
If your collection includes an album (which we highly recommend you getting), we will work together to choose your favourite images, design spreads and cover options. Once we finalise details your album will be sent for printing and shipped directly to you.
